For families of children with special needs, physical and occupational therapy are an essential part of their routine. Proper therapy can literally make the difference between a future of resident care or independent living. Many of our Special Friends, especially those with autism or cerebral palsy, require tens of hours of therapy per week. Few can afford to see a professional therapist that often, so therapists assign "homework" that parents either have to facilitate themselves or hire an aide to do so. This requires a tremendous outlay of time or money, and greatly increases the stress level in the home.

LifeTown will offer an innovative solution. Our 12 therapy rooms will feature the latest therapeutic equipment, making it the ideal location for Special Friends to do their "homework." Parents can reserve a room and work with their child, or they can let one of our conscientious, trained teen volunteers help their child with exercises under the supervision of a staff therapist.
