| Welcome
to the Ferber Kaufman LifeTown
The Ferber Kaufman Lifetown,
part of the Meer Family Friendship Center, is a project of
the Friendship Circle.
The Friendship Circle
Established in 1994, the Friendship Circle provides assistance
to the families of children with special needs, as well as
to individuals and families struggling with addiction, isolation,
and other crises. Through our many projects and programs,
we reach out to thousands of people in desperate need of the
care and support of a good friend. Visit the Friendship Circle
online at www.FriendshipCircle.org
Meer Family Friendship Center
Located on six acres of magnificent wooded land in West Bloomfield,
the Meer Family Friendship Center will serve as a home for
all of the Friendship Circle's activities and will house the
Ferber Kaufman LifeTown Building and the Daniel Sobel Friendship
House.
Established through the generosity and vision of Ed Meer,
the center will be a welcoming and inviting home for all the
members of the Friendship Circle.
Lifetown: A House of Friendship
The majority of the Friendship Circle’s innovative
work with children with special needs will take place at the
Ferber Kaufman LifeTown building, a 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art
facility, which will serve as a therapy
and activity center, social
meeting place, and hub for our network of volunteers,
professional staff, and supporters. The most striking feature
of LifeTown will be the Life
Village, a unique, interactive world in miniature where
children with special needs, our Special Friends, can have
fun while they practice important life skills through role
play.
At LifeTown, children with special needs and their parents
and siblings find a place that has been specifically designed
to meet their needs. LifeTown is more than a community center
or a therapeutic facility—it is a house of friendship.
Please join us on a brief tour
of the Ferber Kaufman LifeTown, and spend a few moments learning
about the Friendship Circle programs.
We are already halfway towards
our goal of raising $4.5 million to make the Ferber Kaufman
Lifetown a reality. We invite you to
become a part of this exciting, life-changing endeavor.
